I do have it on disc, but that’s the problem. The disc just has the release version burned on to it, they all do. I need the update file. If I can put that on a usb, I can edit directory names/ executables/ etc in such a way that the Xbox will just use it as an update. The Xbox One backwards compatible version is built from the 360 re-release, so ownership and cloud saves will transfer over. But good news if you still have your original Xbox disc for San Andreas!

Always, always keep original hardware. You can't count on backwards compatibility to work well, and often the ones that do may encounter audio drops, stutters, or other oddities not present on original hardware. Backwards compatibility is an excellent feature, but I absolutely wouldn't count on it for accuracy.
